A lovely evening out

Just a little review of our night out on Saturday for our good friend's birthday. Get ready to drool...

Tucked in behind a wall on Beaufort St in Inglewood is a little BYO restaurant called da Bruno's. We have eaten there before, but not often enough! Saturday night has convinced me we need to go more often. The restaurant is small and cosy, being a converted house. The service is outstanding (friendly and not over the top) and the food...oh the food is SO good! A small menu, done well. The chef explains each dish and you really need to decide on the spot otherwise you will forget something delicious. We toyed with the tasting plate for antipasti, however agreed that we would all choose an entree and main instead, and hope to have room for dessert. My entree was a heavenly Carpaccio with a rocket and parmesan salad, followed by the most divine lamb and for dessert a HUGE serving of hazelnut semi-freddo which was truly drool-worthy. My husband chose the gnocchi formaggio (outstanding), fish and a flourless chocolate cake. It is certainly not a cheap menu, but it's well worth it for such wonderful food, and being BYO you can save a few $$ by not paying exhorbitant wine list prices.

The added bonus for us is that it is within walking distance - so lots of good food and wine and no need to shell out for a taxi home!
